It was a two kilometers trek through a forest of red pine and Japanese larch until arriving at Jigokudani, also known as Hell’s Valley, where the Snow Monkeys are.

A slower shutter speed is used to capture the sparkles in the water, caused by the strong sunlight. The lake is generally turquoise in color but the color varies in different sections, changing from yellow to green then to blue, like a water-color painting.

It was a nice morning at the farmhouse of my host family in New Zealand. They brought me out to their lovely farm on tractor and it was such an enjoyable ride. The sun was rising and casted a stunning gold colour across the landscape. The bare trees here look like they have caught fire like lighted matchsticks.
