This Grey-headed fish eagle photo was taken at Singapore Botanic Garden, a great place for photographing Birds of Singapore. It is considered as a rare migrant bird species although it has been spotted more frequently in Singapore in recent years. Grey-headed Fish Eagle is listed as Near Threatened on Red List. Malabar Pied Hornbill

Due to it’s short tongue and large beak, hornbills have to toss their food in the air several times before the food gets to the back of it’s mouth and swallow it. Due to the overcast skies, I over-exposed this shot slightly to get a white sky to contrast the dark feathers of the Malabar Hornbill to create more visual impact. This picture is a Finalist of the Big Picture Natural World Photography Competition 2016 and exhibited at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco in July 2016.

Shuzheng Lake Clusters, Jiu Zhai Gou

The ray of light adds to the magical feeling of the Shuzheng lake and waterfalls. The green forests surround nineteen lakes of different sizes and levels. The lake water in the upper reaches flows slowly along the shoal and is divided into countless streams by the groves in the lake. Then the streams join on the top of Shuzheng Waterfall and suddenly drop down to the lower lakes.

Face Off
Smooth-coated Otter & Monitor Lizard

Is it a friend or foe? A stare-down between the Smooth-coated otter and the Water Monitor Lizard in Singapore. The staring contest lasted for about a minute or so as they get closer and closer to each other. Eventually, the monitor lizard crawled into the dense vegetation to avoid the group of otters nearby. There was a interesting record of a smooth-coated otter was seen attacking and killing a water monitor lizard in a small pond at the Forestry Research Institute, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. source

Family perched on rock in the sea

A family with their weeks-old chick perched on top of a rock during high tide. The parents usually take turn to find food for the chick. Occasionally, the chick gets swapped off their feet into the sea by the strong waves, but it is capable of swimming back and climb back to the same rock and wait for its parents.
