Red-crowned crane (Grus japonensis) (丹顶鹤) are also known as Japanese Cranes, Manchurian Crane or Fairy Crane (仙鹤). They are often depicted in traditional paintings and statues, which symbolises longevity in the Orient culture. The Red Junglefowl is listed as Endangered on Singapore Red Data Book due to poaching and interbreeding with domesticated chickens. Pulau Ubin, an offshore island of Singapore, is still considered the stronghold for this species since 1980s. In recent years, a few families of Red Junglefowl have been thriving in the mangrove park of Pasir Ris in the North-east region of Singapore.
