Post's featued image.

Collared Kingfisher diving out of the water, after a quick afternoon dip in the Kinabatangan River, Borneo. This sequence was shot with a Nikon D3 with 500mm lens on a continuous high burst mode, capturing all 10 action shots of the kingfisher within a split second. The images were later pieced together in Photoshop into one sequence shot. This allows the viewers to appreciate the details of the lightning fast dive of the kingfisher, which can’t be recorded in the human eyes and brain.

BORNEO WILDLIFE SUPERCHARGED WITH NIKON D500 BY C.S.LING 1st image : Close-up of one of the 11 frames 2nd image : Continuous shooting capability of Nikon D500. 11 frames merged in Adobe Photoshop. In high-resolution file, every single frame is sharp and focused from eye to feather. This crested serpent eagle was being harassed by a crow. Not sure what was the reason behind, but it definitely helped shorten my wait for the eagle to fly. I managed to get a continuous shot of it’s flight against the beautiful blue sky. Usually eagles either fly into the forest with it’s […]

BORNEO WILDLIFE SUPERCHARGED WITH NIKON D500 BY C.S.LING I had a really fun time photographing this Little Spiderhunter at the ginger plant next to the place I was staying at. Whenever it was about to fly to the flower, it will make a series of rapid chipping notes, land on the flower, take a few dip into the nectar with it’s long curved bill and within seconds flew off. In this shot, I was able to capture its tongue and the drops of nectar that fell from its bill. The 20.9MP Nikon D500 features the same 153-point AF system and […]

Post's featued image.

Rhinoceros Hornbill – one of the largest hornbill in the world, up close on Kinabatangan River in Borneo. These majestic birds used to inhabit the forest of Singapore a long time ago but with the progress of civilisation, and the resultant habitat loss, they’ve become extinct locally. It was almost as if the hornbill knew we were photographing him, as he proudly shows off it’s beautiful bright orange casque, which kinda reminds me of the prehistoric dinosaur. The most memorable moment for me was when the hornbill flew overhead. I could clearly hear the whooshing sound of every wing beat. […]
